SPI Supplies, much like others, has been labeling their graphite rods as 'carbon rods'. Many users, unaware, have been using graphite rods under the misconception they're carbon. The resistivity of carbon is significantly higher than graphite, typically four times, though it varies with density. If your vacuum evaporator is set for graphite, it works best with graphite. Substituting a real carbon rod may cause it to function differently, or not at all. Ensure you're ordering the correct rod type.
