Kit Includes: This kit contains one High-Speed Steel (HSS) NPS National Pipe Straight Tap and one matching HSS Round Die, providing a comprehensive solution for threading and rethreading tasks. National Pipe Straight (NPS) taps are designed for tapping holes or couplings in low-pressure applications, allowing them to be assembled with taper-threaded pipes or fittings to create a secure joint when used with a sealer. They are suitable for threading a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials and are commonly used for NPSC and NPSM work. The High-Speed Steel Round Die is designed for making new threads or rethreading existing ones. Its combination of hardness and toughness ensures excellent wear resistance, making it suitable for general-purpose applications. The die is chamfered on both faces: one side with a 2 to 3-thread chamfer for standard threading and the other with a 1 to 1-1/2-thread chamfer for threading close to a shoulder. Adjustments can be made with a fine-pitch screw, which allows the die to expand or contract as needed.
