This petcock valve controls fuel flow from the tank to the carburetor with three positions: on, off, and reserve. The fuel valve allows the rider to shut off fuel flow when the vehicle is not in use, preventing carburetor flooding and fuel leaks. The reserve position provides access to additional fuel when the main supply runs low. Common symptoms of a failed fuel valve include fuel leaking from the petcock, inability to shut off fuel flow, restricted fuel delivery causing lean running conditions, and fuel starvation at higher RPM. Replace the fuel valve if it leaks, sticks, or fails to shut off completely.
