Compact Slide Hammers are a 7lb. Slide Hammer. They are a shorter 18" collapsed length, vs. 28" collapsed length on standard slide hammers. The compact design features a rubber coating that makes it easier to grip, as well as significantly absorbing the impact shock. AMS Slide Hammers are used to pound soil probes, core samplers, and sediment samplers into the ground. They offer a simple method for soil penetration by allowing the user to push or drop the hammer weight down the internal slide rod to apply force through the extension to the sampler; or directly to the sampler. Slide hammers also assist in sample retrieval by allowing the user to back hammer to provide upward force. Please make sure any AMS samplers you intend to use together share a common connection type.
