These Minié balls, .58 caliber with three rings, were commonly used by Union troops during the American Civil War. Discovered via metal detectors on private Virginia lands, they revolutionized warfare. Traditional musket balls were inaccurate, low-powered, and slow to load, often leading to bayonet charges. The Minié ball, however, enhanced rifle accuracy, lethality, and practicality, significantly reducing reload times and requiring less cleaning. They exited barrels at high speeds and hit targets precisely, forever altering combat. Each purchase comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, detailing the bullet's origin when known. A notable example: President Lincoln at the Antietam battlefield in 1862.
