Many Royal Air Force squadrons, tracing their roots to the Great War, celebrated their 75th anniversaries in the 1990s. As tradition, they adorned aircraft with special anniversary artwork, delighting aviation enthusiasts. One of the most striking was the all-black Panavia Tornado GR.1 ZA591, representing No.16 Squadron. Nicknamed 'The Black Pig' or 'Stealth GR.1', it was one of the most photogenic Tornados in RAF service. Despite a brief seven-year tenure, No.16 Squadron operated this magnificent aircraft, seeing combat in the Gulf War. The squadron, formed in 1915 at Saint-Omer, France, is known as 'The Saints'. Their distinctive 'gold Saint' logo on the 75th anniversary Tornado GR.1 was particularly striking. Model comes painted, unassembled, with a display stand.
