Magnificent Pair of Two-tone Chased and Gilded Bronze Torches from the 19th Century, circa 1830. The torches rest on a Terrasse à Ressauts base with Lion Claw feet, adorned with antique-style drapery. The central shaft, a Baluster column, is decorated with scrolls and stylized leaves, leading to a capital richly adorned with antique leaves. At the top, a wide basin with unfurled acanthus leaves supports a tap, accompanied by an original removable bobéche. The set is topped by a removable eteignoir decorated with Flamme à l'Antique, and features fine Petits Guillochages. In exceptional condition, with original mercury gilding in two tones, very fine chiseling, and composed of 15 bronze elements, denoting high-quality craftsmanship. Mounted on a threaded rod, with minimal traces of ageing. Dimensions: Height 34 cm, Base W x D: 12 cm x 12 cm. Provenance: Private Parisian Collection (Great Empire Collector).
