Digital Distance Sensor, 5cm by Pololu

This compact sensor offers a straightforward method to detect objects up to 5 cm (2 inches) away. While enabled, it continually measures distances and uses a single digital output to signal if an object is within its range. The output goes low upon detecting an object, otherwise, it's high. Infrared light, invisible to the naked eye but safe for eyes, is emitted and detected. The sensor indicates object presence along its line of sight, not the exact distance. It has a hysteresis at the maximum range threshold for smooth transitions. Unlike simpler sensors, it uses a short-range lidar module to measure time taken for infrared laser light to reflect back, making its performance less dependent on object reflectivity and lighting conditions.
