The Junior Djembe's compact size is easy to play and hold at any skill level or age; plus, it puts up with outdoor elements like dirt, sand, moisture, and sun. You can play outdoors or use with young students without hassle since the djembe requires little to no maintenance. Its shell and head are 100% all-weather synthetic material, so they won't expand or contract with changes in weather which can affect tuning and longevity. This material also resists dents/scratches and cuts down weight. The djembe comes tuned and ready to play right out of the box. A traditional West African Mali Weave rope tuning system holds a long-lasting pitch, and we pre-stretch the ropes so it sounds great right away (comes with tuning instructions). Shell measures 7" wide x 12.5" tall and weighs about 3.8 lbs; head measures 7" with a 5" playing area (head is slightly larger than the playing area because it wraps around and down the rim).
