The Meinl Headliner Series djembe is our most simple to tune wood djembe. Includes a tuning wrench to make quick adjustments or head changes. Tighten the steel tension rods for a higher pitch and loosen to drop pitch (djembe comes pre-tuned). You can adjust the head right away if it slips out of tune. Tension rods let you change pitch much faster and easier than traditional Mali weave rope runners—and with no learning curve. The hefty shells are made of 100% hardwood staves with uniform color and grain for classic warm djembe tone; the finish is NOT a glued-on veneer made to look like real wood. Equipped with a natural goat skin rawhide head for powerful, deep lows and sharp highs. The body has a slim hour glass shape so it's more comfortable to hold steady between your legs, and the bottom edge is lined to protect from scratches. BY THE NUMBERS: hardwood shell measures 12 1/2" wide x 25 1/4" tall and weighs about 13.8 lbs; goat skin head measures 12 1/2". Designed in Germany.
