Because of these properties, Neoprene is a popular choice for variety of applications. General Purpose Rubber Gaskets Neoprene resists degradation more than other natural or synthetic rubbers. Neoprene is well suited for demanding applications such as gaskets, spacers, noise isolation and padding in external metal cases to protect the contents while allowing a snug fit. It resists burning better than exclusively oil based rubbers. Neoprene can tolerate extreme conditions and its burn point is around 260°C (500°F).
