With 2200 Watts of power, you might think it's a portable shaper. The Festool OF 2200 EB Router Imperial can easily plunge into 8/4 hard maple and make a 1/2" groove in a single pass. It's capable of handling everything from softwoods to solid surface materials. Designed for exceptional maneuverability, the OF 2200 incorporates many ergonomic features, making it easy to control, and a pleasure to use. It has a 30 degree offset base for improved guidance, angled handles for a more natural grip, and fingertip controls for the power, plunge locking, and speed settings, and a ratcheting spindle lock for one wrench bit changes. Everything is designed for ease of use and intuitive operation. One of the core features of the OF 2200 is it's quick-change, tool-less, set of Interchangeable Bases (sold separately). This lever actuated system allows you to make base plate changes fast when you need to switch to another application. Template guide bushings for the router are self-centering and don't require additional tools to install. The router also features a 4 position depth stop that has two fixed positions, 2 adjustable positions, and a special finishing pass position, for repeatable and consistent stepped cuts. The double column clamping mechanism locks plunge depths securely. The trigger actuated, spring-loaded, retractable dust shroud maximizes dust collection while maintaining full visibility. Simply press the shroud release button and the shroud drops into place. • The Dust Extraction Column is placed on the back of the OF 2200 and extends to the top of the router and includes a swivel nozzle. A design which keeps the power cord (also top mounted) and dust extraction hose out of your way.
• Operating the OF 2200 could never be easier. Controls are clearly labeled with icons indicating purpose and adjustment direction. Work smarter without having to locate the manual to make less common adjustments.
• The Magnetic Spindle Brake of the OF 2200 is a faster, more reliable method of retarding spindle motion. The use of magnetic force to stop the spindle also prolongs the service life of the motor versus a mechanical or electronic method.
• With 80mm of travel, the plunge depth of the OF 2200 is phenomenal. The collet actually plunges 10mm below the base of the router providing another option for bit changes.
• The OF 2200 Router features a Triple Bearing Design which dampens spindle and bit deflection. With bearings at the top, middle and bottom, the spindle is less likely to wobble.
