A clan of French origin, the name comes from ‘fraise’, the French word for strawberry. First recorded in Scotland in 1160. Frasers came to hold lands in East Lothian, Stirling, Inverness, Angus, and Aberdeen, and distinguished themselves in the cause of Scotland’s freedom during the Wars of Independence with England.
