The Garmin Varia eRTL615 is the only rearview radar purpose-built for eBikes — and the only Varia that never needs charging. Instead of an internal battery, it plugs directly into your eBike's electrical system through a compatible Garmin accessory cable, drawing power from the same battery that runs your motor. The result is a radar and tail light that is always on, always ready, and never something you have to think about between rides. The radar platform is identical to the proven Varia RTL515: a 24 GHz module with a 140-meter detection range and 220-degree viewing angle. When a vehicle approaches from behind, your paired device — a Garmin Edge cycling computer, a compatible smartwatch, or your phone with the Varia app — delivers an audible alert and a visual indicator showing distance and closing speed. You know what is coming before you can hear it. The integrated tail light runs in four modes: steady at 20 lumens, group/peloton at 8 lumens, night flash at 29 lumens, and day flash at 65 lumens, visible from up to 1 mile. The light automatically increases intensity when the radar detects an approaching vehicle, making you more visible at exactly the right moment. ANT+ and Bluetooth LE connectivity allow simultaneous pairing with a head unit and the Varia app. Compatible third-party head units include Wahoo ELEMNT, Hammerhead Karoo, and Bryton computers alongside the full Garmin Edge lineup. The unit is IPX7 waterproof and weighs just 50g with no internal battery. Mounting hardware includes a direct rack mount and a seat rail kit with adapters. Power input: 6–12V DC at 1.6W max.
