This alloy is designed to produce high-quality, leak-tight joints. It is known for being free-flowing with excellent capillary attraction and deep penetration due to its excellent fluidity. The alloy's composition typically contains 55–57% silver, along with copper, zinc, and tin, giving it a narrow brazing range of approximately 1205°F to 1400°F (650°C to 760°C). Its final silver color is an excellent aesthetic match, especially for stainless steel and silverware applications. Because it meets the NSF/ANSI Standard 51, it is highly suitable for use in the food processing industry and for food service equipment. The alloy provides high ductility and good joint strength, and is used to braze materials including copper, brass, steel, stainless steel, and some nickel alloys. The product is typically sold as 1/16-inch diameter wire, often in a 1 troy ounce coil.
