This paper back book contains the standard retail versions of Rifle Squad: US at Omaha Beach and Rifle Squad: The British Home Guard, together with the usual counter pages for both games (to be removed and mounted on card). Note that the games are available separately in paperback format.Rifle Squad: US at Omaha BeachThe D-Day landings took place in World War II on June 6th, 1944. Taking Omaha beach was the responsibility of US soldiers. The main objective was to secure a beachhead five miles inland and to link Gold beach with Utah beach. Just over half the German defenders were battle hardened combat soldiers, and were generally positioned in strongpoints along the coast. In the game, the Player will take control of a single US Rifle Squad consisting of 12 men. The exploits of the Squad can be played out in individual Missions or in a Campaign spanning three Missions, chosen at random on each playthrough. The first Mission will consist of a beach landing, the second Mission will require the soldiers to push inland and the third Mission will require them to take the final Objective for victory. Your task is to use the various Leaders in your squad to maximize the abilities of the men under their command.Rifle Squad: The British Home GuardThis game lets you play as the British Home Guard in World War 2. The Home Guard was developed to defend the shores of Britain against possible German invasion, which was deemed to be a real possibility, especially early in the war. Many of the Home Guard were men who were too old, and also too young, to sign up for the regular British Army. They often brought their own particular skills into their role, skills that were part of their day to day occupation. At first, the Home Guard were poorly armed and many soldiers were equipped with tools and other melee type weapons. This game envisages an invasion by German forces a little later in the war, after the Home Guard had been better armed following the purchase of weapons from the United States. The job of the Home Guard would generally have been to delay the invasion until regular forces could arrive, and to protect vital infrastructure. In the game, the Player will take control of a single British Rifle Squad (or 'section') consisting of 10 men. The exploits of the Squad can be played out in individual Scenarios or in a Campaign spanning three Scenarios, chosen at random on each playthrough. Your task is to use the various Leaders in your squad to maximize the abilities of the men under their command. The aim of these games is to present a set of clear and easy to read rules, immersive Mission Maps and clear, useful game counters. Individual Missions within a Campaign can be played in around an hour or two, and each one should provide almost endless replayability. How the games workThese games are solitaire wargames. You play the games, and the enemy is controlled by the games. Ideally, you will need 12 standard six-sided dice, although the number of dice needed can easily be reduced simply by rolling fewer dice several times as required. It is highly recommended that the counters provided in the games are used to play the games. Simply stick them to card and cut them out. A video demonstrating how generally to do this can be found on the Mike Lambo Solitaire Book Games YouTube channel.Players: 1Complexity 3/5Playing time: 1-2 hours per mission Read more
