The development of the Medium Panzerkampfwagen III began in the mid-1930s with the aim of making it the backbone of the armoured units of the Wehrmacht. He was a major actor of blitzkrieg and the early stages of World War II. Over time, he adopted a more effective main armament system in his various versions. From the 37mm of the first production series, it was equipped with cannons reaching up to 75mm calibres, allowing it to fight superior armored vehicles. During the war, it was also improved in its armor and often equipped with additional guards to increase its resistance in combat. From 1943, however, the technological distance to opposing tanks became increasing, which led to the Panzer III being gradually replaced by more modern and heavy armed vehicles.
