Finn Sisu is the story of Ahvo Taipale, a Finnish youth who was labeled a "high school dropout" but did not let his naysayers keep him from success. After several visits to the United States to study agriculture, Ahvo settled in St. Paul Minnesota and started Finn Sisu Ski and Sauna Shop. He did not accept No for an answer, relying of his Finnish "Sisu" to overcome obstacles and succeed in his endeavors. Ahvo was a large figure in Minnesota Nordic skiing with his shop supplying racing equipment, his clinics and classes, his constant championing of trail development, lighted trails and snow-making capabilities for Twin Cities parks. Ahvo was one of the first to learn the new skating ski technique and teach it to youths, like Jessie Diggins, and coaches throughout the state. He was a pioneer in Minnesota freestyle Nordic skiing from the 1970s to the 21st century.
