It is a baked bun with bean paste inside a fluffy castella dough made from eggs and wheat, and is characterized by its shape of a maple leaf, the prefectural flower and tree of Hiroshima Prefecture. The standard bean paste is smooth bean paste! We recommend toasting them in the toaster or freezing them to eat, or trying different variations such as deep-frying them tempura style.
