This air-drying type sealant fully cures even when exposed to air, not only within the threaded area. Because of that, it can serve as a substitute for conventional low-strength anaerobic adhesives or tamper-proof paints, and it can also be applied safely on plastic components. When cured, the coating forms a tough but flexible film with excellent vibration and impact resistance. Its low-viscosity nature allows it to seep into threads, creating a tight seal that blocks oil or fluid leakage while preventing corrosion and oxidation. Fasteners assembled with ThreeBond 1401C typically require about 10 – 20 % more torque to remove than to install, ensuring secure retention yet easy disassembly using normal tools. For joints that require stronger locking or are rarely disassembled, the ThreeBond 1300 Series anaerobic products are recommended.
