Orff-Schulwerk style bass metallophone. The unique feature of the Studio 49 bass metallophone is the inclusion of a damper bar. The side of the resonator box towards the bottom of the bars does not have any rubber cording to cushion the bars; attach the damper bar on that side of the resonator box using the included hardware. This allows you to slide the damper bar closer to or farther away from the resonator box and achieve the duration of sound that you like best. The resonator box is made entirely of wood to ensure true resonance and clarity of sound. Studio 49 metallophones are characterized by a very well-balanced, soft sound. With bars on, the widest point is 16" (the length of the low C bar).
- 16 metal bars, overtone tuned to A=440 (the industry standard).
- Diatonic range is from C (one octave below middle C) to A1, plus F#'s and Bb.
- Includes one pair of Studio 49 soft yarn mallets.
- The use of flexible rubber pins to hold the bars on helps prevent bent or broken pins.
- Also includes a damper bar (arrives separate, with hardware for you to attach it).
