The Diamond Sutra is a scripture in which the Buddha, who fully realized emptiness (Śūnyatā), explains the principle of emptiness in a simple and direct way from beginning to end. Therefore, a commentary on the Diamond Sutra can clearly reveal its meaning only when written by someone who has personally experienced emptiness. When the authors have not realized the state of emptiness, their explanations of the Diamond Sutra may unintentionally lead readers into greater confusion. In this sense, a commentary written by someone who has directly realized emptiness can help readers easily understand the essential meaning of the Diamond Sutra.I, the author, Mansik Ju, experienced deep spiritual realization through practice. Twenty years ago, after three years of practicing "the Great Compassion Mantra of Avalokitesvara," I entered Samadhi every night for eight hours for three months. This was the Samadhi of Emptiness.Within this vast Emptiness, there exists infinite freedom, peace, and happiness. Moreover, within this immense void, there overflows an indescribable joy and ecstasy. This is the very state of emptiness. One who realizes this state of emptiness exists in everlasting happiness. After this experience, through twenty years of Zen meditation practice, I attained four great awakenings and left behind four enlightenment poems.Through these practices—including Tibetan Tantric practice and Zen meditation—I, the author, Mansik Ju, achieved profound realization. The depth of my realization will greatly help those who study the Diamond Sutra. Therefore, I confidently recommend reading my book, “The Diamond Sutra Interpreted Through the Experience of Emptiness.” Read more
