This is the final updated version of the Tokutei Type III Destroyer series. The destroyer 'Hibiki', part of the last batch of Tokutei class destroyers built, underwent a design change due to repeated sea accidents caused by top-heaviness. The bridge was streamlined, giving the ship a distinctive look unlike its predecessors. One of four such vessels, 'Hibiki' saw action in numerous battles at war's start. Despite sustaining heavy damage repeatedly, it was repaired and returned to combat each time, earning it the nickname 'Phoenix'.
