Like any other spring native to a stock RAM HD, the factory Sway Bar is nearly immobile. Conversely, it’s the most neglected spring on the vehicle as people fail to look past the front coils and rear springs when looking to “soften” the factory ride. Well, the factory sway bar is essentially a brace locking the axle to the frame. What does this mean? What you hit with one tire is immediately transferred to the other tire and into the frame causing a high frequency reverberation/chatter felt in the cab. If you’ve ever hit a manhole cover on the driver’s side tire and felt a shake in the entire truck or you’ve ever entered an off-camber driveway and smacked your head on the window – you can thank the factory sway bar. Truth be told, it’s responsible for many of the small-bump compliance gripes thanks to immobility.
