Our rope ratchet is a convenient and practical accessory to assist with securing any boat cover with a draw rope in the hemline. Designed for ropes 1/4" thick; this tool quickly and efficiently tightens and locks the hemline rope in place so the boat cover stays securely in position. To use: Untie one end of the hemline rope. The ratchet casing is marked with an arrow showing the direction to thread the rope. Feed the rope into the bottom of the ratchet casing, around the gear and back out through the bottom. Allow rope end to hang free. Insert the hook into the knotted (opposite) end of the rope and pull the free hanging rope end to tighten, ensuring cover is taut. Excess rope may be trimmed, however it is IMPORTANT to take special care not to trim too much excess as some amount of free rope is required to loosen the cover for removal. Tuck hanging rope end under the boat hemline for a tidy appearance. To release the rope for cover removal, simply press the thumb lever located under the ratchet hook to release tension and pull rope in the opposite direction.
