Solid carbon steel shaft with full length machined double-D shaft profile. 3/4-inch diameter double-D shaft works with any 3/4-inch DD shaft steering joint. Can be cut to length for custom steering setups between column and box or rack. Steering shaft is black zinc plated for corrosion protection and appearance. Fully Machined Double-D Steering Shaft to Finish Your Steering Project The very nature of hot rodding is to utilize bits from other vehicles to make your hot rod a better ride. Nowhere is that more evident than in adding a tilt-steering column for easier entry/exit and driving comfort. Long a popular swap using junkyard GM steering columns from the late 1960s on up, it is in fact so popular still to this day that we offer a complete line of GM 5-position tilt steering columns for your hot rod or muscle car project. But like any hot rod or muscle car upgrade, getting that steering column installed is just half the battle. The other half is getting the column connected to your steering gearbox or rack-and-pinion. Our fully machined 3/4-DD steering shaft is manufactured from high strength carbon steel. The fully machined body provides a standard D-shaped contour on both sides with flats for steering joint assembly. The double-D shaft can be cut to whatever length needed for your steering connection needs and is compatible with 3/4-inch steering shaft bearings/supports, steering rag joints, steering dampers, and of course 3/4-DD steering shaft U-joints. The DD shaft is given a black zinc coating for protection and appearance’s sake and compliments many of our black coated steering U-joint options. This 3/4-inch double-D steering shaft is 18-inches in total length. It is also offered in 22-inch and 36-inch variants to ensure the connection between your steering column and steering gear can be easily completed no matter the distance
