The Drillco 1000EF series reduced-shank drill bit is made from high-speed steel with a black and gold oxide finish and has a 135-degree split point for drilling tough, high-tensile strength metals. The reduced shank drill bit, also called a Silver and Deming drill bit, has a shank that is smaller in diameter than its shaft, permitting drilling with a 1/2" drill chuck. High-speed steel (HSS) provides hardness for wear resistance, and the combined black and gold oxide finish resists corrosion and increases the hardness of the drill bit for additional wear resistance. The self-centering 135-degree split point penetrates hard material without a pilot hole and produces smaller chips that reduce clogging compared to a 118-degree point. The round shank with flats ground onto three sides reduces slippage of the bit when used in drill chucks.
