This is a modular style assembly. If the coating of your appliance's current ice maker is flaking off, or if components inside the assembly are no longer functioning, replacing the ice maker assembly may alleviate these issues. Installing the part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience.
