First book club edition (no print number or gutter code) hardcover copy of The Stars, Like Dust by Isaac Asimov (Doubleday / Science Fiction Book Club, 1951). The classic science fiction novel, a part of his Galactic Empire series. Very rare in this vintage edition. Jacket is protected in new archival sleeve but previously experienced heavy wear. Chipping, tears and creases around the edges, liquid staining to top of front cover and rear liner flap, more noticeable on interior than exterior. Top of spine torn and jacket is missing in this area. Otherwise, boards are straight and clean but with bumped corners. Liquid staining to top edge of several pages. Previous owner’s inscription on front endpapers and small torn area on front free endpaper where a sticker was apparently removed. Binding remains fairly firm and spine relatively straight.
