One of the three major sashiko techniques in Japan, it is a type of sashiko technique passed down in the Tsugaru region of Aomori Prefecture. Based on plain-woven linen, it is a method of counting an odd number of stitches against the vertical weave, and is characterized by warm geometric patterns.

A blouse with "Kogin-zashi" on the shoulder yoke. It can also be worn as a haori (light jacket) because it opens in the front. Gathers are added to the back to create expression. This is a piece where the "Kogin-zashi" stands out on the simple body.
