Could a "spring coil" be incorporated into the shoes to dramatically increase propulsion and rebound? From this groundbreaking idea, after about 16 years of research and trial and error, "SHOX," NIKE's innovative cushioning technology, was launched into the sneaker scene in 2000, with a bang.

High-rebound cylindrical columns are placed in the sole, and the shock-absorbing material "PEBAX" efficiently absorbs energy upon landing and converts it into powerful propulsion for the next step. This completely different approach from the previous "AIR" and the mechanical, futuristic visuals instantly captivated sneaker freaks around the world.

The "SHOX R4," the running shoe that first featured the "SHOX" technology, is once again attracting attention.

The biggest feature of the "SHOX R4" is the boldly placed four "SHOX" column structure. These work together to create a unique resilience, like a trampoline, and a one-of-a-kind "bouncing" feel. The upper design also strongly reflects the Y2K tech running aesthetic of the early 2000s. The streamlined silhouette combines glossy synthetic leather and breathable mesh panels, creating a futuristic atmosphere of the time.

And in 2025, the SHOX R4, riding the wave of the Y2K revival, appears in a new colorway. It features a dazzling metallic silver base on the upper, combined with clean white on the side quarter panels. And, a deep, beautiful deep royal blue accents the "SHOX" columns vividly. Reflective piping is also present to enhance nighttime visibility.
