NICENESS / HARTLEY Indian cotton patchwork shirt. This shirt features an African ethnic pattern created with Indian block printing.
The pattern is inspired by the traditional Malian [Bogolan] from West Africa, and has been modernly modified in line with the SS23 collection theme. It is also considered a garment to protect against evil spirits, and the maze-like geometric patterns are said to prevent evil spirits from entering the body.
The design is a new type, designed by unraveling the history of French dress shirts and Italian bespoke dress shirts. The three-dimensional construction in the details gives a sense of tradition, and combined with the fabric, it creates a new sensation of a shirt.
