Vintage European Stone Sculpture of Virgin Mary Signed Art Deco Era Alabaster

Beautiful vintage stone sculpture depicting the Virgin Mary in a serene, contemplative pose. This finely carved bust features a softly modeled light stone face, likely alabaster, framed by a darker green stone veil, possibly marble or serpentine, and mounted on a polished banded onyx base. The piece has substantial weight and excellent presence despite its intimate scale.

The underside is hand-scratched "Made in France" and bears a hand-incised artist signature beginning with "A. G—," though the full name is indistinct. While marked France, the materials, carving style, and signature suggest a Continental European origin, most likely Italian, consistent with early–mid 20th century devotional and Art Deco–era stone sculpture.

Dimensions are approximately 4.5" high x 3.5" wide x 2" deep. Condition is very good vintage, with natural stone variations and light age-related wear consistent with period and materials.
